Main Street Media flipped Sports “The Ticket” 1230 WAKI/92.1 W221ED McMinnville TN to Christian AC “92.1 The One” at noon on Monday.

Owned by Chad Graves and Scot MacDonald, Main Street Media had acquired the station along with others in McMinnville and Sparta from Peg Broadcasting last year. The One will utilize programming from Christian FM Media including its lineup of Kevin & Amy in mornings, Kim Fitz middays, Beth Bacall afternoons, and Scott and Sam at night. WAKI will go all-Christmas from Thanksgiving until Christmas day. Christian FM Program Director Jayme Summers is consulting the station.

Graves told the company’s Main Street Journal, “This is a big moment for us. WAKI is the oldest radio station in Warren County, and it is now the county’s first contemporary Christian music station.”

Main Street Media Manager of Strategic Partnerships Greg Roberson, who used to program Salem’s “Today’s Christian Music” network, added, “For the last five years the CCM format, without a doubt, has been the fastest growing radio format. More stations are switching to CCM than any other format. The Christian format in general, which encompasses CCM and Christian teaching and talk stations, are No. 2 in the number of stations behind only country music. This will be Warren County’s first CCM station. WBMC has played some southern gospel but there’s never been a contemporary Christian station here. This is a niche we thought we could fill which will attract more listeners than national sports talk.”
