Following last week’s exit of morning host ‘Big Jim’ O’Brien, Beasley Media Group Classic Rock 94.7 WCSX Detroit has announced that ‘Screamin’ Scott’ Randall has taken over the morning timeslot.
Randall has hosted afternoons at WCSX since the start of 2023. After starting his career in Lima OH and Fort Wayne IN, Randall has been a staple of Detroit Rock radio since 1993. He spent three years in mornings at “102.7 Z-Rock” WDZR before joining Rock 101.1 WRIF as night host in 1996. Randall was laid off from WRIF in April 2020 in a budget cut before being brought back to his evening shift in February 2021 where he remained until moving to WCSX.
Randall commented, “I’ve loved every minute of being part of the WCSX family, and I’m incredibly excited to take on this new opportunity. Detroit listeners are the best in the world! Getting the chance to start their mornings with great music, laughs, and conversation is truly an honor. I can’t wait to get rolling on May 18th.”
WCSX and WRIF Program Director Jade Springart said, “Screamin’ Scott has long been one of the most recognizable and entertaining voices on WCSX. His passion for the Motor City, knowledge of classic rock, and genuine connection with listeners make him a perfect fit for mornings. Scott brings energy, authenticity, and a whole lot of fun to everything he does, and we’re excited for listeners to wake up with him every day.”
VP/Market Manager Matt Scarano added, “Screamin’ Scott understands the DNA of Detroit rock radio better than almost anyone. He’s authentic, highly entertaining, and has built a tremendous bond with listeners over the years. We’re excited to have him bring that personality, experience, and energy to mornings on WCSX.”
