After eight years as Music Director and evening host at iHeartMedia Country 98.7 WMZQ Washington DC, Corey Calhoun departed the station following his show yesterday in preparation of a new position to be announced.
Calhoun joined WMZQ in June 2018 after three years as APD of sister Country 97.5 WAMZ Louisville where he spent time first in afternoons and then mornings. Calhoun began his career in Top 40 where he began as an intern at WWWQ Atlanta and later worked in Ithaca NY and programmed iHeart’s duo of Country 102.5 WYNR and CHR “103Q” WQGA Brunswick GA and Cumulus CHR “Hot 102” WLTO Lexington KY.
Calhoun shared, “8 years ago today I started at WMZQ, how time flies. Today is also my last day. I had the time of my life, entertaining the DMV is a special thing. Never knowing what influential person I made giggle for the day. Made life long friends and memories. Thank you Jeff Kapugi for giving me this once in a lifetime opportunity & taking a chance on me! As your favorite employee, it was a pleasure working for you! It’s been an honor and privilege DMV! Excited for my next chapter coming soon. Just know I won’t forget you! Don’t forget me.”
