Centennial Broadcasting Classic Hits “95.9 The Goat” WGRQ Fairview Beach/Fredericksburg VA debuted “Trapper In The Morning” today as Trapper Young moved over from afternoons at sister Hot AC “B101.5” WBQB.
Centennial had closed on its $2.3 million purchase of WGRQ and Country “Thunder 104.5” WGRX Falmouth on March 1 and rebranded WGRQ from “Superhits 95.9” to “The Goat” in early May. Former morning host Dave Adler had departed the station at the end of April after two decades in the daypart.
Young had spent the past 29 years in afternoons at WBQB. He commented, “While it’s a bit harder to wake up several hours earlier than most, I’m excited to take on this new challenge on 95-9 The Goat. This is a chance for me to form relationships with a new audience or perhaps an audience who heard me play these songs on B101.5 through the decades.”
Centennial Broadcasting Operations Manager Chuck ‘Archer’ Miller said, “We believe this is a fantastic move for Trapper and he’ll be the perfect fit as morning host on 95-9 The Goat. Trapper’s voice has been a consistent presence in Fredericksburg and the region for nearly 30 years and now he’ll have the opportunity to take on a bigger role on 95-9 The Goat’s lead daypart.”
