After exiting as VP/Programming for iHeartMedia’s Mobile AL/Pensacola FL cluster in last month’s cuts, Brian ‘Crash’ Edwards is the first to find employment elsewhere as he joins JVC Broadcasting’s “92.1/97.7 The Bone” WBON-FM Destin/Fort Walton Beach and WBOE Bonifay/Panama City to host from 1-5pm.
Edwards, who programmed Rock “TK 101” WTKX-FM Pensacola and Classic Rock “96.1 The Rocket” WRKH Mobile while also hosting afternoons at “Rock 102” KWNW Memphis during his tenure at iHeart said, “I’ve spent my career believing radio should be about serving listeners and entertaining people. That’s exactly what JVC believes too. They’re not afraid to be different, they’re committed to local radio, and they’re giving us the freedom to build something special. I’m incredibly excited to join The Bone and reconnect with listeners every afternoon.”
Market Manager John Griffo commented, “The Bone was built to break away from everything listeners have come to expect from corporate radio. Instead of the same few hundred songs on repeat, we’ve built a library of more than 5,000 songs- from Muddy Waters to Slayer. Instead of piped in personalities we invest in local talent. Crash fits that philosophy perfectly. He’s authentic, he’s passionate, and he’s one of the best.”
Director of Programming Matt Stone followed, “Corporate Radios loss is our huge gain. Crash has been a staple on the Florida Panhandle for a decade, We are excited to add him to our on-air line-up of misfits”
With Edwards’ addition, midday host Mary Jo moves up an hour to 9am to 1pm, afternoon host Roxy moves from 3-7pm to 5-8pm, and night host Eddy RBG cuts back an hour to be heard from 8pm to 12am. Matt Stone remains in mornings from 5-9am and Mallory overnights.
