As Waterloo Media prepares to close on its sale of 93.3 KGSR Cedar Park/Austin TX to Norsan Media, its legacy AAA brand has taken on new branding as it moves to a new frequency.
“93.3 KGSR HD2” has relaunched as “Radio Austin” as it begins airing on 103.5 KBPA-HD3 Austin ahead of the loss of its home on KGSR-HD2 and those call letters. The AAA brand debuted on 107.1 KGSR Bastrop in 1991. It would move with the call letters to 93.3 in 2009. A partnership with the Austin City Limits Festival would see the station rebrand as “Austin City Limits Radio” in September 2018 with the format moving to 97.1 K246BD/KGSR-HD2 in March 2019. The station would then move off the translator in August 2024 with the ACL partnership ending soon-after.
Despite being exclusively on HD and streaming, “Radio Austin” continues to feature a full on-air lineup with Bailey in mornings from 6-10am, Isaac from 10am-2pm, Sterling from 2-5pm, and Sawyer Stull from 5-8pm. All of the hosts hold other roles within the Waterloo Media Austin cluster with Bailey and Stull heard on Alternative “101X” KROX-FM Buda, Sterling serving as Sales Coordinator, and Isaac in production roles.
