Radio One continues to revamp its Dallas/Fort Worth cluster following the acquisitions of Hip Hop “K104” KKDA and “Smooth R&B 105.7” KRNB earlier this year.

At Hip Hop “97.9 The Beat” KBFB, the Rickey Smiley Morning Show had moved to the station in July. Jazzi Black will continue in middays. Former “Power 106” KPWR Los Angeles midday host Bryhana Monegain will host afternoons, while Reach Media’s “Posted on the Corner” hosted by Incognito and DJ Misses will be heard in nights.

“K104” will continue to be led by DeDe in the Morning. Her former co-host Michael Shawn will return to the station as midday host. Hollywood Bay Bay remains in afternoons, while former midday host Lil D shifts to nights.

At KRNB, the station drops its former branding in favor of “105.7 KRNB” with a logo replicating sister 100.3 WRNB Philadelphia. The station is now focusing on R&B hits from the 1990s through today.

Operations Manager Yonni Rude said, “This strategic realignment strengthens Radio One Dallas’ ability to serve the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex with exceptional entertainment, engaging personalities, and compelling content that connects with our audiences.”

VP/GM Maurice Potts added, “Our programming continues to evolve in ways that better reflect the audience that we serve and the direction of our brands. Rebranding 105.7 gives us an opportunity to create an even stronger, more distinctive connection with our audience while delivering the music and personalities they love. These changes reflect our commitment to
keeping our stations fresh, relevant, and focused on serving our listeners.”

The company states that “since acquiring KRNB and KKDA, Urban One Dallas has continued building a robust multimedia platform designed to super-serve the urban music audience across DFW, positioning the cluster at the forefront of both the local market and the national landscape”.
