American Amplifier Technologies (AAT) has announced it has acquired fellow transmission equipment manufacturer Electronics Research, Inc. (ERI).
ERI, which was founded in 1943, manufactures antenna systems, transmission lines, RF components, towers, and related engineering and field services. It joins the Steve Wilde founded AAT following their 2023 purchase of Shively Labs and 2025 acquisition of Kathrein-Scala along with their own broadcast transmission, RF, monitoring and control, and related product lines.
Wilde said, “ERI is much more than a collection of products and manufacturing capabilities — it represents generations of engineering knowledge and a remarkable legacy within the broadcast industry Tom Silliman and the ERI team have built a company and a reputation that deserve tremendous respect. Our goal is not simply to acquire that legacy, but to honor it, preserve what has made ERI successful, and provide the resources and investment to carry it forward for decades to come.”
ERI will continue to operate at its existing Chandler IN facilities under AAT with no planned changes to company operations. The companies state that ERI customers can expect continuity in service, support, and business relationships and should continue communicating with their existing ERI contacts through the same established channels. The acquisition is intended to strengthen ERI by providing additional resources, expanded capabilities, and continued investment in the company’s long-term success.
ERI head Thomas B. Silliman, P.E. commented, “I am proud of what the people of ERI have built over the years, and I believe AAT is well positioned to carry that work forward. We share a commitment to engineering, quality, customer service, and the broadcast industry. I look forward to seeing ERI’s products and reputation continue to thrive.”
Wilde continued, “For us, this is about stewardship as much as growth. ERI, Shively Labs,
and Kathrein-Scala are names that generations of broadcast engineers know and trust.
We recognize the responsibility that comes with bringing companies with those histories
together. We intend to protect what makes each of these companies special while
creating new opportunities for personnel and continued technological innovations.”
