After taking a week off for the Memorial Day holiday, we’re back with a roundup of the last two weeks worth of FCC filings.
Station Moves
Connoisseur Media’s Classic Rock “95.9 The Fox” WFOX Norwalk, CT has applied to change its city-of-license to Southport, CT with no changes to its 3kW at 91 meters signal (Coverage Map). The move will shift WFOX’s home market from Stamford/Norwalk to Bridgeport where it will join sister Hot AC “Star 99.9” WEZN.
Domestic Church Media’s Catholic 89.3 WFJS-FM Freehold, NJ proposes an increase from 3.8kW at 50 meters to 15.2kW from the same antenna. The directional pattern will point towards the southeast increasing the station’s coverage towards Brick and Toms River.
Translator Moves
Educational Media Foundation is proposing changes to its translators in Detroit. 93.5 W228CJ Detroit will adjust from 99 watts at 125.3 meters to 82 watts at 299 meters increasing its coverage of downtown Detroit (Coverage Map). Concurrently, the CP for 93.5 W228CU Riverview will shift from 35 watts at 67.7 meters to 80 watts at 26 meters (Coverage Map) and 93.7 W229BV New Baltimore will adjust from 250 watts at 42.4 meters to 70 watts at 79 meters (Coverage Map).
Separately, 98.3 W252BX Detroit (Coverage Map) and 106.3 W292DK Westland (Coverage Map) seek adjustments to their directional patterns. All five translators will rebroadcast “K-Love” via Clear Channel’s 92.3 WMXD-HD2.
North of Minneapolis, EMF’s 97.7 K249ED Albertville, MN applied for an increase to 250 watts at 304 meters (Coverage Map) from its current 170 watts at 40.6 meters.
EMF also proposes an increase of 94.9 W235BH Perrysburg/Toledo, OH from 55 watts at 129 meters to 99 watts from the same antenna and height (Coverage Map).
Salem Communications applied for a move of 105.5 W288BI Deltona, FL to Orlando on 100.7 following a FAA mandated displacement. W288BI held a CP to relocate to Orlando on 105.5 with 250 watts at 134 meters (Coverage Map) rebroadcasting Christian Talk 950 WTLN Orlando.
Cedar Cove Broadcasting’s 94.1 K231BQ Golden, CO applies to increase from 24 to 240 watts at 215 meters with 1550 KDCO Golden as originating station (Coverage Map). The increased power would give the translator coverage throughout Denver.
First Ventures Capital Partners has requested a move of 106.9 K295AZ Buttonwillow, CA to the Bakersfield market where it will rebroadcast American General Media News/Talk 1180 KERN Bakersfield on 96.1. The translator will operate with 250 watts at 183 meters (Coverage Map).
Cavalry Radio Network’s 103.3 W277AK Fort Wayne is in the process of being sold to Adams Radio. Adams has applied to increase the translator’s power from 19 to 250 watts from the existing 86.3 meter tower (Coverage Map). W277AK will rebroadcast Oldies 1250 WGL Fort Wayne.
Southwest FM Broadcasting has filed to increase 101.7 K269EE Prescott, AZ from 84 watts at 197 meters to 250 watts at 200 meters (Coverage Map).
Educational Media Foundation’s W244AW Iron Mountain, MI seeks to shift from 96.7 with 4 watts at 179 meters to 107.5 with 10 watts at 176 meters (Coverage Map).
Northwest Indy Radio’s 102.5 K273BV Hoquiam, WA holds a CP to upgrade to 250 watts at 715.5 meters. It has now applied to relocate to Olympia on 102.1 with a drop to 9 watts at 634 meters rebroadcasting 93.7 KLSY Montesano (Coverage Map).
Broadcast Towers, Inc’s CP for 93.5 K228FD Monterey, CA seeks to increase from 10 watts at 161 meters to 232 watts at 188 meters rebroadcasting Mount Wilson FM’s 1240 KNRY (Coverage Map).
Bryan Broadcasting seeks to shift its recently acquired 102.7 K274BM College Station, TX from 99 watts at 174.7 meters to 250 watts at 86 meters while changing originating station from 95.1 KNDE to Christian Preaching 1510 KAGC (Coverage Map).
Station Sales
Educational Media Foundation has acquired Southern Gospel 103.3 WTCF Wardensville, WV/Winchester, VA from Timber Ridge Ministries for $425,000.
WMS1 sells Americana “98.3 The Whip” WWHP Farmer City, IL to Joseph Young’s Smash Hit Media for $475,000. Smash Hit Media will begin to operate the station via a Time Brokerage Agreement beginning on June 1. Young also owns 100.9 WHPO Hoopeston and 50% of 104.9 WPXN Paxton, IL.
Dakota Communications has sold Country “105.1 The Eagle” KZKK Huron, SD to Riverfront Broadcasting for $300,000. The deal is contingent on Riverfront applying to shift KZKK to 92.1. Dakota Communications will retain the remainder of its Huron stations: 1210 KOKK, 1340 KIJV, and 98.3 KJRV.
Translator Sales
Midwest Communications acquires 105.9 W290AZ Marshfield, WI from First Ventures Capital Partners for $39,000. W290AZ holds a CP to relocate to 95.1 and recently applied to upgrade to 250 watts where it will rebroadcast Midwest News/Talk 550 WSAU Wausau.
Midwest also adds 102.7 W274AQ Battle Creek, MI from Calvary Radio Network for $45,000. W274AQ will rebroadcast Sports “930 The Score” WBCK, which Midwest is in the process of acquiring.
World Radio Network sells three California translators to Penfold Communications for $10,000. 95.7 K239CE Borrego Springs, 103.9 K280FO Coachella, and 93.1 K226BT Indio will all rebroadcast Christian Preaching 88.1 KRTM Yucca Valley.
Radio Assist Ministry, Educational Media Foundation, and Mary Guthrie have agreed on a settlement to their mutual-exclusive translator applications. Guthrie dismissed her two Tucson area applications, EMF dismissed their Memphis and Jonestown, KY applications, and Radio Assist Ministry will transfer 98.1 K251BL McAllen, TX to Guthrie for no cost.
Way Media has sold 102.5 W273CH Mayfield/Paducah, KY to Bristol Broadcasting for $16,500. Bristol’s 102.1 WLLE Mayfield is licensed as the originating station for the translator.
ITM, LLC. has acquired 94.7 K234CF Prescott, AZ from Advance Ministries for $50,000. ITM head Sanford Cohen also owns Prescott Valley Broadcasting including 106.7 KPPV Prescott Valley, which will be the originating station for the translator.
