Connoisseur Media Country “100.5 The Wolf” KVWF Augusta/Wichita KS flipped to Classic Country this morning as “100.5 Hank-FM“.
The flip brings Classic Country back to FM in the Wichita market following Journal’s spin-off of “Classic Country 92.3” KFTI-FM last year following its acquisition by Scripps. The format was subsequently moved to 1070 KFTI where it remains.
The existing airstaff remains in place with the flip. The new format is focusing on Country hits of the 70s through early 2000s with a focus on the 1990s. The Hank-FM branding and format is licensed from Envision Radio Networks.
Envision Networks® and Kroeger Media Inc. are excited to announce Connoisseur Media’s KVWF-FM/Wichita, Kansas as the latest affiliate of HANK FM®. With KVWF’s recent launch as 100.5 HANK FM®, the station joins over 200 affiliates on the Envision Country Network.
“I’m very excited that we will have a radio station that will give Wichita country music fans an opportunity to hear the artists and songs that made country music great. Back in March when we started playing 90s throwbacks our listeners asked us for more and that is exactly what 100.5 HANK FM® is going to do, give all fans of country music more of what they are wanting,” General Manager Doug Downs said.
“In the past year KVWF has dabbled in bringing back those great country hits from the 90s at the demand of our listeners. Little did we realize how passionate they would be once they got a taste! The Hank format just seemed to be the perfect progression for KVWF and our listeners,” Program Director Pat James said.
At least the good news is that the existing on-air staff remains in place.
Too many format changes see mass firings of all on-air staffers, and sometimes even all behind-the-scenes people all the way down to the receptionist!
