Audacy Sports “670 The Score” WSCR Chicago it will begin simulcasting on 104.3 on February 2.
Staffers were informed of the move in a meeting this morning. The move follows many expected moves for the brand over the years.
The move will mean the end of Rhythmic Throwbacks “104.3 Jams” WBMX although we’re told some elements of its programming will be merged into CHR “B96” WBBM-FM.
SVP/Market Manager Kevin Cassidy said, “Chicago fans are the best in the world, and they deserve coverage that matches their passion. Our roster features the best talent in the city with unmatched dedication to delivering the latest sports news and insight. We’re excited to expand The Score’s reach through this FM simulcast, bringing our premier sports content to an even wider audience so they can join the conversation and stay connected to their favorite Chicago teams.”
WSCR, which is the radio home to the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls, ranked thirteenth with a 2.9 share in the December Nielsen Audio ratings. WBMX was tied for eighteenth with a 2.0 share, while WBBM-FM was 24th at a 1.6 share.
The move of WSCR to FM follows recent moves by the company in Kansas City, Miami and Portland. After WSCR completes its move, 610 KILT Houston, 550 WGR Buffalo, and 1320 KIFM Sacramento will be Audacy’s only Sports talkers with local programming only on AM.
