While attention was made to Clear Channel’s wide-scale layoffs on December 6, it seems that CBS has quietly been making staff cuts as well. Update 1/2: A few more cuts have become public since our first report: Dallas – AC “103.7 Lite-FM” KVIL morning team Gene & Julie did not have their contracts renewed. Middayer Tony Zazza replaces them. New York – WCBS-FM APD Lenny Bloch departs. His voicetracked overnight shift was replaced with a live shift hosted by Dave Stewart, formerly of 95.5 WPLJ. “Trapper Jack” Elliot and Jim “Infoman” McIntyre are out of mornings at CBS AC “New 102” WDOK Cleveland as their contracts were not renewed. Elliot had been with WDOK for the past 17 years. The station had featured Elliot’s farewell audio on its website but quickly purged it along with all mentions of the pair within a half hour of his show ending this morning. Jen Toohey remains in the WDOK morning slot. WDOK relaunched as “New 102” in January 2012.
Update 1/9: WDOK has rebranded this morning as “New 102” following a week of teases. Longtime morning host Trapper Jack returned this morning after being kept off last week during the stunt period, although it was announced during the show that co-host Terry Moir would be leaving the show at the end of this week to focus on her primary job as Director of Programming & Sales Marketing at WKYC-TV. The station is still promoting more changes to come this week including a new local night show to replace Delilah. Meanwhile at sister Adult CHR “Q104” WQAL, afternoon host Heather Blackman is leaving to return to Montreal as morning co-host at Astral Rock 97.7 CHOM.
