iHeartMedia has broken up its “Rock 94.9/102.3” simulcast in Omaha and launched Regional Mexican “102.3 El Patron” K272FE Council Bluffs IA/KKFF-HD2 Bennington NE. The flip gives a competitor to Flood Communications’ “Lobo 97.7” KBBX Nebraska City. El Patron has picked up the syndicated El Show de Piolin for mornings. The Active Rock format continues on 94.9 K235CD/KISO-HD2 Omaha.

As the clock struck midnight on December 26, iHeartMedia “Man’d Up” and launched “Rock 94.9/102.3“. Airing on both 94.9 K235CD Omaha and 102.3 K272FE Council Bluffs, the station is airing a mix of Rock hits from the 70s to early 2000s. New Signal Launches With Christmas In Omaha

We have what will be the first entrant in the 2014 Post-Christmas Format Change Watchlist as iHeartMedia has launched “Christmas 102.3” K272FE Council Bluffs/93.3 KFFF-HD2 Bennington in the Omaha market. In previous years iHeart has aired Christmas music on Classic Hits 99.9 KGOR, who will cede it this year to K272FE. Journal Communications AC “Star 104.5” KSRZ and Salem’s Christian AC “100.7 The Fish” KGBI usually program holiday music as well. K272FE is licensed with 99 watts at 181 meters with a signal that covers Omaha and Council Bluffs (Coverage Map).

This week Cumulus has requested that WOKI’s application be dismissed as well as the requested moves of the other stations involved. Central Florida Educational Foundation is proposing a major upgrade to 88.7 WMYZ Clermont, FL. The Class A station currently operates with 1.2kW at 106.7 meters and seeks to rise to a Class C2 with 31kW at 113.4 meters. WMYZ simulcasts sister Christian AC “Z88.3” WPOZ Union Park/Orlando.
