Salem Media has signed-on 95.9 WLTE Pendleton, SC. The new signal will simulcast Classic Hits “103.3 Earth-FM” WRTH-FM Greer expanding the format’s coverage west of Greenville into Anderson and Clemson. Salem acquired the CP for WLTE last September from Georgia-Carolina Wireless for $550,000.
Salem Classic Hits “103.3 Earth-FM” WRTH Greer, SC launched its new website this week with a bit of a surprise included. The station’s logo included references to the station also being heard on 98.5. That variation of the logo has since been removed but remains visible on the station’s Twitter account. The 98.5 in question is W253BG Arial/Greenville owned by Ted McCall. The translator is currently operated by Summit Media as Alternative “X98.5” rebroadcasting 107.3 WJMZ-HD2. The addition of 98.5 to WRTH will enhance the station’s coverage in Greenville. WRTH operates with 2.7kW at 151 meters with its tower closer to the Spartanburg side of the market. Salem Broadcasting is acquiring Classic Hits “Earth 103.3” WOLT Greer, SC from Earth Radio Broadcasting for $100,000 and the cancellation of a promissory note valued at $1,025,000. Salem will operate the station via an LMA prior to closing of the sale, but has not specified in the purchase agreement when it will begin to do so. Earth Radio Broadcasting had just closed on its $1 Million purchase of WOLT from Davidson Media and had been operating the station via Time Brokerage Agreement since March 2013. WOLT will become the second station in the Greenville/Spartanburg market for Salem joining “Conservative Talk 94.5” WGTK-FM.
