Sunrise Broadcasting is completing the acquisition of 103.7 WBNE Wrightsville Beach, NC it first indicated would happen last September. In a deal filed last year to acquire 95.9 W240AS Wilmington from Sea-Comm Media, Sunrise indicated it would amend the application at a later date to include WBNE in the deal. That happened on Monday when Sunrise filed to acquire WBNE for $1.85 million. They will concurrently divest 104.5 WILT Carolina Beach to Bible Broadcasting for $300,000 to keep under the ownership limits. WBNE will flip to a simulcast of sister AAA “98.3 The Penguin” WUIN Oak Island, but that could potentially be a temporary fill. Davis operates WBNE via LMA from Sea-Comm Media, which stated in an FCC filing last fall that it intends to sell WBNE to Sunrise Broadcasting. Nextmedia has completed a shakeup of its stations in Southeastern North Carolina. Variety Hits WILT “Will-FM” moves from 98.7 Jacksonville to 104.5 Wilmington, giving it a better signal in the Wilmington market, while taking the WSSM calls from 105.1 Havelock. The aforementioned 105.1 picks up 104.5’s old WRQR calls, but keeps its Adult Standards format for now. 98.7 changes its calls to WLGD and has flipped to Spanish Contemporary as “La Gran D”.
