Cumulus Files Reorganization Plan With FCC; To Divest Four Stations

As part of its bankruptcy restructuring plan Cumulus Media will be forced to divest four stations as it loses its grandfathered status. Cumulus did not disclose any new details of its restructuring plan with the FCC, rather using it to try to gain pre-approval from the commission to eliminate any delay as it attempts to get out of bankruptcy as quickly as possible. The company states that outside of its officers and directors only one party will have attributable interest in the company with one unnamed company having the right to vote nearly 11% of the Class A Common Stock of the restructured company. The four stations that will be placed into the Cumulus Reorganization Divestiture Trust for a future sale are: Oldies “Cool 97.5” KJMO Linn/Jefferson City MO, Country “102....[Read More]

Cumulus To Reacquire Green Bay Stations From Clear Channel

In 2009, Cumulus Media swapped five Green Bay market stations to Clear Channel in exchange for a pair of stations in Cincinnati. While Cumulus continued to operate the Green Bay stations via LMA, Clear Channel had a put agreement in the contract allowing them to require Cumulus to repurchase the stations between July 1 and September 1, 2013 for the set aside price of $17,636,643. The stations are Hot AC “Star 98” 98.5 WQLH Green Bay, Classic Hits 103.1 WOGB Kaukauna, Country “Nash FM 104.9” WPCK Denmark, and Sports simulcast “1400/107.5 The Fan” WDUZ Green Bay/WDUZ-FM Billion. NashFM Phase Two On The Way?

Cumulus looks poised to begin phase two of its “Nash” Country brand rollout. Amidst rumors of Premiere Radio Networks “After Midnight” host Blair Garner jumping ship to Cumulus to host a syndicated morning show, Cumulus has slowly begun to reserve social media properties for additional markets. The most obvious is the domain registration for NashFMWisconsin.com in late March. It was joined by a Twitter account and a private Facebook page in the last couple weeks. Those accounts would be for what is now “The Wolf” 99.5 WPKR Omro/104.9 WPCK Denmark/Green Bay. Additional social media accounts were all claimed on May 6 for NashFM929, NashFM973, NashFM979, and NashFM1045 could point to a few possible Cumulus Country stations on each frequency. We’ve hea...[Read More]
