Live 105 San Francisco Relaunches As Alt 105.3

Entercom has brought the “Alt” brand to another market as it has rebranded Alternative “Live 105” KITS San Francisco as “Alt 105.3“. No yet word on the status of the Live 105 airstaff. KITS ranked 22nd in the San Francisco market with a 1.6 share and 23rd in the San Jose market in the November Nielsen Audio ratings. INSTANT INSIGHT: To drop the Live name after all these years means there likely was a perception study done that showed that the station no longer was held in a positive light by potential listeners as the ratings have shown. Will San Francisco Get Fresh?

Entercom seems to think so. The owners of AC 96.5 KOIT, the #1 FM in the market have registered a number of domains connected to CBS owned frequencies in the market. Fresh1053.com and Fresh1053fm.com connect to Modern Rocker KITS “Live 105“, the most successful of the four CBS FM’s in the market in 19th place at 1.7. Fresh997fm.com points to Rhythmic AC KMVQ “Movin 99.7” at 22nd with a 1.4 in the summer book. Fresh1069fm.com relates to Classic Hits KFRC, which relaunched the heritage brand in May, but has been DOA with a 1.2 share, showing slight growth from the former Free-FM Talk format. With the recent changes in New York and Chicago, San Francisco is now CBS’ most struggling cluster. The topography makes some FM’s inaudible in areas, which does...[Read More]
