Saga Communications has made a few programming moves the past few days. Crash Poteet joins Country 101.9 WPOR Portland ME as Brand Manager and afternoon host. Most recently in the same role at West Virginia Radio Corporation’s 96.1 WKWS Charleston WV, Poteet has also programmed 96.3 KSCS and “96.7 The Twister” KTYS Dallas, “101.9 The Twister” KTST Oklahoma City, and 98.5 KVOO Tulsa in his career. Saga has flipped Classic Country “Big Buck Country 106.9” WZBK-FM Milwaukee to Rhythmic CHR “Energy 106.9“. The station is launching with 10,069 songs commercial free under Program Director Brandon Rowe. The flip places the station in competition with Entercom’s “103.7 Kiss-FM” WXSS and Clear Channel’s “97.3 Radio Now” WRNW. 106.9 was on the verge of flipping to CHR “Now 106.9” in May of 2010, when following our report of the domain registration, Clear Channel beat Saga to the punch and launched “97.3 Radio Now“.
While all eyes were on the stunting 106.9 WJZX, Clear Channel has beaten Saga to the punch flipping 80s Rock “97.3 The Brew” WQBW to CHR “Radio Now 97.3“. The flip occurred at 9am local time as the station segued from Europe’s “The Final Countdown” into Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok”.
