Limbaugh & Hannity To Return To WPHT

With the sale of “IQ 106.9” WWIQ Philadelphia closing shortly, CBS Conservative Talk 1210 WPHT will make room in what had been a mostly local lineup for Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity beginning on Monday, October 28. Limbaugh will air live in his 12-3pm daypart, while Hannity will air tape delayed from 9pm to 12am. To make room on the lineup for the new additions, the existing programming on the station will be truncated. Morning host Chris Stigall will lose the 9am hour and air 530-9am. Dom Giordano will slide from 10am-2pm to 9am-12pm. Afternoon host Dick Morris will lose the 2pm hour, and Rich Zeoli drops the 10pm hour from his now 6-9pm show. Imus Replaces Local Hosts At WWIQ Philadelphia

The revolving door of local hosts in the short history of Merlin News/Talk “IQ 106.9” WWIQ Camden/Philadelphia is over as the station brings in the syndicated Don Imus starting Monday, July 15. The station launched in May 2012 with “Philly’s Morning News” hosted by then Program Director Al Gardner and longtime Philadelphia television anchor Larry Mendte. Mendte was let go at the end of 2012 and replaced by WPIX-TV New York commentator Lionel. Gardner departed the station in March. The syndicated Imus previously had a long run in mornings on CBS’ crosstown News/Talk 1210 WPHT. His Cumulus Media Networks program will air on WWIQ from 6-9am.

Merlin Media’s “IQ 106.9” WWIQ Philadelphia has officially confirmed that Rush Limbaugh will debut on the station on Monday, June 25. The addition of Limbaugh from noon to 3pm finalizes the daytime lineup on the station that also includes a local news block with Al Gardner and Larry Mendte from 5am to 9am and syndicated talkers Glenn Beck from 9am to 12pm and Sean Hannity from 3pm to 6pm. Dial Global’s Overnight America with Jon Grayson has been added for overnights. The evening slots are still to be filled, although a comment on the station’s Facebook page hints at the addition of Mark Levin, whose show currently airs on Salem’s 990 WNTP in the market. Update 4/12: As we draw near to the launch of Merlin Media debuting its programming on 106.9 WKDN, information regarding its future programming is now starting to leak. We all know by now that Rush Limbaugh will be moving to the station sometime in the next 90 days following the termination of its syndication with CBS’ 1210 WPHT. Rumors persist that Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity will be joining Rush on 106.9, and Merlin did make a registration for Hannity1069.com this week. Merlin has also dropped MAJOR hints on the branding of its new station. Domain registrations have been made for IQ1069.com and IQ1069FM.com. Premiere Moves Rush Limbaugh In Philadelphia

The New York Times reports that CBS’ 1210 WPHT Philadelphia will no longer serve as Rush Limbaugh’s affiliate in the market. The statement by CBS to the Times makes it clear that Premiere Radio Networks is pulling the affiliation from the station. “Premiere recently notified WPHT they will be syndicating Rush Limbaugh on a new station in Philadelphia. As a result, we are pleased to be able to now showcase Michael, who is a well-known and acclaimed broadcaster in the market, in this new time period.” Michael is Michael Smerconish, the former WPHT morning host, who’s 12-3pm syndicated program has aired on tape delay from 3 to 6pm.
