Just five months after moving from 101.1 to 1380/105.5, Core Communicators Urban “Streetz 105.5” 1380 KZTS North Little Rock/105.5 K288EZ Little Rock has folded. The station flipped to Gospel “Rejoice 105.5” on Saturday, September 1. The move comes as owner Salem Media takes management of the station back from Core Communicators. The new format places the station up against Cumulus Media’s “Praise 102.5” KPZK-FM Cabot. The Streetz format received extra competition last month when General Manager Joel ‘DJ NoName’ Ratliff exited to launch “96.5 The Box” KHTE-FM.
After purchasing 101.1 KZTS Cammack Village/Little Rock AR in March for $1.1 million and ending its LMA of 96.5 KHTE-FM England, Salem Communications is purchasing 1380 KDXE North Little Rock/105.5 K288EZ Little Rock from N C Communications for $180,000. As part of the deal, Salem will lease the station to Steve Hegwood’s Core Communications to keep the Urban “Streetz” format that was displaced off of 101.1 KZTS. That move started on Sunday, April 1. When Salem Media takes over 101.1 KZTS Cammack Village/Little Rock on Sunday, April 1 it will move the programming of Conservative Talk “96.5 The Answer” KHTE-FM England to KZTS. Salem will end its Time Brokerage Agreement to operate KHTE-FM, whose programming will revert to owner Crain Media Group. No word yet on what that company will do with the station.
