WDNC Expands FM Coverage

Capitol Broadcasting Sports “620 The Buzz” WDNC Durham, NC has signed on a second translator. 96.5 W246CG Durham has completed its move and upgrade to 250 watts at 146 meters (Coverage Map) to bring the Sports programming to FM in the Durham half of the Raleigh/Durham market. It joins 99.3 W257CS Morrisville, which launched in April covering the Raleigh side of the market (Coverage Map). The Buzz carries a local morning show hosted by Mike Maniscalco and Mark Thomas followed by Fox Sports Radio’s Dan Patrick, CBS Sports Radio’s Jim Rome, ESPN Radio’s Dan Le Batard, and CBS Sports Radio in nights and weekends. Capitol Broadcasting Acquires Two Raleigh/Durham Translators

Capitol Broadcasting Company has acquired a pair of translators in the Raleigh/Durham market from Radio Training Network for $450,000. Acquired are 97.1 W246CG Durham, which currently operates with just 1 watt and 99.3 W257CS Morrisville (halfway between Durham and Raleigh) that operates with two watts. Both translators, which currently rebroadcast 88.5 WRTP Franklinton NC, will be used to bring Sports “620 The Buzz” WDNC Durham to FM based on the sale filings. Based on the price paid for these very low-powered translators, its safe to assume Capitol has plans to upgrade the facilities of the pair.
