Peter Bowen Becomes Entercom Chicago Director of Sports

Former Cumulus Media Chicago VP/Market Manager Peter Bowen has joined Entercom Chicago as Director of Sports. Bowen will oversee all sales for “670 The Score” WSCR and all play-by-play contracts including the Chicago Cubs on WSCR and Chicago Bears on 780 WBBM/105.9 WCFS. Prior to spending two and a half years overseeing the Cumulus Chicago cluster, Bowen served as Senior VP of Sales for CBS Radio Los Angeles from 2012-2015 and had a long run in management at CBS Radio Chicago including serving as Director of Sales and General Manager of CHR “B96” 96.3 WBBM-FM.

WSCR Makes New Midday & Afternoon Shows Official

Entercom Sports “670 The Score” WSCR Chicago confirmed the moves that were rumored yesterday as it unveiled its new lineup taking effect immediately. Afternoon co-host Dan Bernstein moves to the 9am-1pm midday slot where he will be paired with Connor McKnight. McKnight returns to the WSCR from Cumulus Media News/Talk 890 WLS where he served as a Sports anchor and pre and post-game host for Chicago White Sox games. He also worked at Tribune’s 720 WGN and “87.7 The Game” WGWG-LP and at WSCR from 2009-2014 where he was a fill-in host and update anchor. People Moves 3/13: On-Air Lineup Restructuring Coming To 670 The Score Chicago

A lineup shakeup is taking place at Entercom Sports “670 The Score” WSCR Chicago. Robert Feder reports that Jared Goff is out as afternoon co-host with Dan McNeil likely to return to a fulltime position at the station for the first time since exiting middays in 2014. McNeil returned to WSCR in January to host a Sunday morning show after co-hosting mornings on Hubbard Classic Rock “97.1 The Drive” WDRV in 2015-16. The Chicago Tribune adds that McNeil is likely to be paired in afternoons with Danny Parkins, who joined WSCR as midday co-host in January 2017. Chicago Bulls Move To 670 The Score

After being rejected by Cumulus News/Talk 890 WLS in their bankruptcy proceedings, the NBA’s Chicago Bulls have rebounded to find a new home at Entercom Sports “670 The Score” WSCR Chicago. The Bulls will debut on WSCR on Saturday, February 3 with its game against the Los Angeles Clippers. Chuck Swirsky and Bill Wennington will continue as the broadcasters for the franchise’s games with Steve Kashul as pregame, postgame, and halftime show hosts. The new agreement will run through the 2020-2021 season. The Bulls had signed a five year agreement with WLS in 2015 that started with the 2016-2017 season. Jimmy deCastro To Head Entercom Chicago

Former Evergreen Media & AMFM Inc. CEO Jimmy deCastro has been appointed as Senior Vice President/Market Manager of Entercom Chicago upon closing of the acquisition of CBS Radio by Entercom. DeCastro first came to Chicago in 1981 to be GM of 97.9 WLUP. He would later purchase the station as part of Evergreen Media, which would later merge with Chancellor Broadcasting to form AMFM. While President of AMFM, the company was bought and merged into Clear Channel in 2000. He has since served as President of AOL Interactive and in 2007 founded The Content Factory, which launched the Dan Patrick Show into syndication before being sold to DirecTV, and then as President/GM of Tribune’s 720 WGN Chicago from 2013-2016. AM Changes CBS Radio News 780 WBBM Chicago has applied to vacate its tower site of the last 75 years and co-locate at the site of sister Sports "670 The Score" WSCR and SBS' "La Ley 107.9" WLEY-FM Aurora. From its new location WBBM will drop from 50kW day/night to 35kW day/42kW night but with the taller tower should come close to duplicating its current coverage. With WBBM's simulcast partner 105.9 WCFS Elmwood Park being the home to most of its in-market listening it is doubtful most WBBM listeners even notice the change. WBBM currently operates from a 55 acre site adjacent to the intersection of Interstate 290 and Illinois 390 in Itasca IL. CBS Sports “670 The Score” WSCR Chicago is resetting its lineup for 2017 following the retirement of Terry Boers. Current midday co-host Jason Goff will move to afternoons from 1-6pm with incumbent co-host Dan Bernstein. Goff is in his second tour of duty with WSCR. He returned in February 2015 to co-host middays after a run in nights at sister “92.9 The Game” WZGC Atlanta. He had previously worked as a producer, reporter, and fill-in host at WSCR. Terry Boers Announces Retirement From WSCR Afternoons

CBS Sports “670 The Score” WSCR Chicago afternoon co-host Terry Boers will retire on Friday, January 5, 2017. Originally a sportswriter for the Chicago Sun-Times, Boers has been with WSCR since its launch in 1992 through three frequencies. His retirement will come at the end of the week of the station’s 25th anniversary. Boers made his announcement in a blog post on the station’s website. The decision to retire comes after Boers has been off for most of the past six months due to two surgeries for an undisclosed ailment. Robert Feder reports that a search will begin for a new co-host for incumbent Dan Bernstein. Boers and Bernstein have been paired together since 1999, first in late mornings and then moving to the current 1-6pm timeslot in 2009.

Todd Cavanah Promoted To VP/Programming For CBS Chicago

CBS Radio Chicago has promoted Todd Cavanah to VP/Programming for their cluster. Cavanah has worked at CHR “B96” 96.3 WBBM-FM since 1990 and has programmed the station since 1993. His new position will add oversight of the cluster’s AAA 93.1 WXRT, Country “US 99.5” WUSN, Classic Hits “104.3 K-Hits” WJMK, Sports “670 The Score” WSCR and News 780 WBBM/105.9 WCFS. Chicago Cubs Move To WSCR

After one year on News 780 WBBM, CBS Radio is shifting play-by-play of the Chicago Cubs to Sports “670 The Score” WSCR in 2016. The Cubs moved to CBS Radio after having their games on Tribune’s 720 WGN since 1925. With the White Sox leaving WSCR for Cumulus’ 890 WLS, CBS is exercising the option to move the Cubs to WSCR. Both teams will be on their new homes through the 2021 season. WLS Nabs Chicago White Sox & Bulls

The rumors have become reality as Cumulus News/Talk 890 WLS Chicago has nabbed the radio rights to not only the Chicago White Sox, but also the co-owned Chicago Bulls. WLS will begin airing White Sox games in the 2016 season and the Bulls in the 2016-2017 season. Both deals will run through 2021 and include all games and weekly specialty shows. The White Sox are currently heard on CBS Sports “670 The Score” WSCR, while the Bulls will have one more year at ESPN Radio’s “ESPN 1000” WMVP.
