WQTX Lansing To Drop Sports & Fuel Up

Midwest Communications will flip Sports “92.1 The Team” WQTX St. Johns/Lansing MI to 90s Hits “92.1 Fuel-FM” on Wednesday, September 5. The Lansing State Journal reports that the new format will be branded as “High Octane Fun”. New Midwest Communications VP/Market Manager Mark Jaycox told the paper that the Sports format was not profitable. The new format will utilize the “Fuel” format from Tom Kent Radio Network. The format is centered in the 1990s while stretching into the 80s and early 2000s. 92.1 The Ticket Lansing Rebrands As The Team

Shortly after the launch of the station as “92.1 The Ticket“, WQTX changed its branding to “The Team“. Why the change? CBS Sports “97.1 The Ticket” WXYT-FM Detroit has the Michigan trademark for the Ticket name. No changes to the new programming format with the change in name from Ticket to Team. Original Report 1/13: Midwest has officially announced the coming launch of “92.1 The Ticket” on Monday, January 19. WQTX will feature nine hours of local programming daily along with Dan Patrick and other Fox Sports Radio programming.
