Ingstads Merge Fargo Classic Hits Stations

The various arms of the Ingstad family have closed on their acquisitions of three Fargo area stations. Brooke Ingstad’s Radio Wahpeton-Breckenridge, daughter of Radio Fargo-Moorhead owner James Ingstad, has closed on her purchase of Classic Hits “106.9 The Eagle” KEGK Wahpeton/Fargo and has merged its programming with that of “92.7 The Drive” KZDR Kindred. KZDR is in the process of moving to Breckenridge MN where it will relaunch as “B92.7” KBMW-FM with a yet to be announced format. Robert Ingstad, Tallie Colville, Tami Ingstad Knudson and Todd Ingstad’s I3G Radio (standing for Ingstad 3rd Generation) have closed on their purchase of News/Farm 890 KQLX and Country “Thunder 106.1” KQLX-FM Lisbon ND concurrently.

Ingstad Family Sale To Lead To Fargo Move-Out

A deal involving three members of the Ingstad family will lead to Classic Hits “92.7 The Drive” KZDR Kindred/Fargo ND from moving out of the market. Robert Ingstad’s Mediaactive LLC is selling KZDR to his niece Brooke Ingstad’s Radio Wahpeton Breckenridge for $275,000. Brooke Ingstad is in the process of acquiring Full Service Country 1450 KBMW Breckenridge MN from her father James Ingstad’s Radio FM Media for $300,000 and 100.7 K264AY Chamberlain SD for $35,000. KZDR has applied to relocate out of the Fargo market to Breckenridge MN as well. The station seeks to downgrade from a Class C3 to Class A in the process with 6kW at 46 meters. 92.7 Drives Into Fargo

Update 9/11: Another day, another Fargo format change. After stunting with non-stop Taylor Swift music, 92.7 KZDR debuted its permanent format as Classic Hits “92.7 The Drive“. Core artists being promoted include Fleetwood Mac, Bob Seger, Elton John, Billy Joel, The Beatles, and Rolling Stones. Despite no web presence of its own, the new station is being promoted on the website of James Ingstad’s “True Oldies 1660” KQWB. Northpine.com points out that James Ingstad is the uncle of Robert Ingstad and his previous group operated the station under its former “Bone” incarnation. The Bone Fargo Goes Dark

Active Rock “92.7 The Bone” KFNL Kindred/Fargo, ND went dark on February 28. The station debuted its now former identity in March 2012 following its acquisition from Northwestern College assuming the format of “Rock 102” 101.9 KRWK following that station’s flip to News/Talk. The station, while owned by Robert Ingstad’s Mediactive LLC, was operated by his brother James’ Radio Fargo-Moorhead. Midwest Communications announced its acquisition of Radio Fargo-Moorhead in September 2012 and is awaiting closing of that deal.
