She will join incumbent co-host Dan Mitchinson on the KFBK Morning News starting August 27. The arrival of Mendonsa means the end of Amy Lewis’ second tour with KFBK. Lewis worked at KFBK from 1993-2000 and returned as morning co-anchor in 2006. In between she had a brief sting in mornings at KABC Los Angeles and Metro Networks. A change could be on the horizon at Clear Channel Classic Hits “Classic 93.1” KHLX Pollock Pines/Sacramento. Domain registrations for 931Country.com, 931NewCountry.com, Country931FM.com, and NewCountry931.com were made on Friday by Ken Charles, the VP/Programming of Clear Channel Sacramento. KHLX registered a 1.9 share in the July PPM’s. It normally gets a strong ratings boost each fall while playing Christmas Music. Its Classic Hits competitor, KCCL recently moved from 92.1 to a stronger 101.5 signal. A move to Country would make KHLX the third station in the format in Sacramento joining CBS’ 105.1 KNCI and Entravision’s “101.9 The Wolf” KNTY. KNCI is current sixth overall in the market with a 5.3 share and KNTY is thirteenth at 3.4.
Update 6/4/09: After a few days of signal testing and stunting as Talk, Soft AC, and Modern Rock, 93.1 debuted its official format as “Classic 93.1“. Using one of the Clear Channel “Premium Choice” formats, the music and jocks are identical to those at WOLZ Fort Myers and KQLL Tulsa. Update 6/1/09: The first step towards the launch of the new 93.1 in Sacramento will take place today as KOSO Patterson/Modesto shifts from 93.1 to 92.9. This will pave the way for the sign-on of the new signal in the Sacramento market. Additionally the above image has replaced the one below on the Clear Channel server. We think both are decoys and the new station will either be Rhythmic AC utilizing the 931FeelIt.com domain or a last minute audible will be called and the station will go...[Read More]
