Carla Marie & Anthony Move To KBKS For Nights

Two weeks after flipping CHR “Power 93.3” KPWK Seattle back to Rhythmic CHR KUBE, iHeartMedia has reversed course on its plans to keep the Carla Marie & Anthony morning show on the station. The duo will instead move to sister “106.1 Kiss-FM” KBKS Tacoma for nights starting Monday, May 21. The show will air from 6-10pm replacing the voicetracked EJ on KBKS. Carla Maria and Anthony came to Seattle from the syndicated Elvis Duran Show in January 2016 when KUBE became KPWK. The original plan was for the pair to continue hosting mornings following the return of the KUBE format and branding earlier this month. No plans for the KUBE morning slot have been announced. KUBE 93.3 Returns In Seattle

iHeartMedia has reversed its 2016 four station move and relaunched Rhythmic CHR 93.3 KUBE Seattle replacing CHR “Power 93.3” KPWK. Concurrent with that move Hot AC “106.1 Kiss-FM” KBKS Tacoma has returned to its heritage Top 40 presentation with a “Seattle’s New Hit Music” positioning. The KUBE format and IP had moved to the 104.9 Eatonville/Tacoma rimshot in the 2016 cluster revamp until it was placed in a divestiture trust last fall and flipped to Christian AC. Since then the brand has lived on KPWK-HD2. KPWK registered 18th in the Seattle market with a 2.8 share in the March 2018 Nielsen Audio ratings well behind Hubbard’s market leading CHR “Movin 92.5” KQMV’s 6.8 share. KBKS was eleventh with a 3.8 share. KPWK morning h...[Read More]

Causes And Effects Of iHeart’s Seattle Shuffle

The four station format shuffle that iHeartMedia pulled off yesterday may have caught many off-guard but the pieces started coming together over six years ago. In 2009, then Clear Channel rounded out their Seattle cluster with the acquisition of CHR “Kiss 106.1” KBKS Tacoma/Seattle as part of a seven station swap with CBS Radio. That deal at the time gave Clear Channel full control of the younger demographics in the market as KBKS joined Rhythmic CHR 93.3 KUBE in their holdings. That monopoly ended up leading to the demise of both stations as they were known. In 2010, Sandusky (now part of Hubbard) flipped “Movin 92.5” KQMV to Rhythmic leaning CHR and the station quickly became not just the dominant CHR in the market, but the dominant station in the market. In the l...[Read More]

iHeart Shuffles Four Seattle/Tacoma Stations

The flip of 102.9 KYNW Centralia was not the only move iHeartMedia has made to its Seattle cluster as the company makes changes to four of its Seattle/Tacoma area stations. The moves start as Rhythmic CHR 93.3 KUBE is downgraded to the 104.9 signal that was home to Rock “104.9 The Brew” KKBW Eatonville. With the move the format will be focused on the Tacoma area as “Tacoma’s Hits & Hip-Hop”. SupaSam remains in mornings on KUBE, while Tiffany Warner moves from middays to afternoons. That will clear 93.3 to become CHR “Power 93.3“. Positioned as “Seattle’s New Hit Music”, the new station will take direct aim at Hubbard’s market leading “Movin 92.5” KQMV. Carla Marie and Anthony, most recently of the syndicated...[Read More]
