ANCO Media Group has made a change in mornings at Dance “Revolution 93.5” WZFL Islamorada/WBGF Belle Glade/WHYI-HD2/W228BV Fort Lauderdale/W228BY Miami FL as JP replaces Joe Raineri in mornings. Yojhans ‘JP’ Perez, who exited mornings at Entercom Rhythmic CHR “Power 96” 96.5 WPOW-FM Miami in January will join Revolution 93.5 alongside co-host Lady Gigi starting Monday, June 18. Perez worked at WPOW for twelve years starting as an intern before moving up to nights and then mornings in 2012. JP’s entrance leads to the exit of Joe Raineri after just over a year in the morning slot. Raineri joined the station in May 2017 after runs in mornings at Hot AC 97.9 WRMF and Sports 640 WMEN West Palm Beach.

It’s better now, but there was a period, several years ago, where South Florida radio was losing the one thing you could generally count on it for—sense of place. Miami radio was often deliberately low-key presentationally; the excitement came from hearing a lot of new music, a lot of local hits, and, yes, dance music. And for a minute, South Florida radio felt to me like being in any other market. But WPOW (Power 96) is playing Latin crossovers again. WMXJ (the Beach) plays “Rapper’s Delight,” the only Classic Hits station where you can hear that song in significant rotation. WHQT (Hot 105) has been playing one song after another that I recognize as a hit, but not that I’m used to hearing on the Urban AC safe list. And, yes, there’s dance music on the radio again WZFL (Revolution 93.5) is...[Read More]
Zoo Communications Dance “Revolution” and iHeartMedia Country “93.5 The Bull” have swapped locations in Fort Lauderdale. Revolution moves to 93.5 W228BV Fort Lauderdale, which Revolution purchased from Reach Communications earlier this year for $410,000. The move allows Zoo to sync the Revolution format on three 93.5 licenses as it also airs on WZFL Islamorada/Key Largo and iHeart owned 93.5 W228BY Miami via 100.7 WHYI-HD2. The Country “Bull” format will slide to 104.7 W284CS Miami via 93.9 WMIA-HD2, which despite the COL covers the southernmost portion of Broward County including Hollywood. With its 0.1 share in the October 2016 ratings, the format merely exists to give the syndicated Bobby Bones Show another major market clearance.
Translator Sales The big deal of the week was Zoo Communications paying Reach Communications $410,000 for 93.5 W228BV Fort Lauderdale FL. W228BV is currently operated by iHeartMedia as Country “93.5 The Bull” but with Zoo operating Dance “Revolution” 93.5 W228BY Miami (owned by iHeart), 104.7 W284CS Miami, 93.5 WZFL Islamorada/Key Largo it will likely join that network. Station Sales Ed Stolz’ Playa del Sol Broadcasters is transferring CHR “Hot Hits 97.7” KRCK-FM Mecca/Palm Springs and translators 95.5 K238AK and 98.1 K251BX Palm Desert into co-owned Major Market Radio LLC. The big question is if Stolz changes his mind will he spend years filing objections and legal challenges to it to the FCC like he did in Sacramento following his sale of 106.5 K...[Read More]
