FCC Report 9/18: What’s iHeart Doing With Identical Cleveland Translators?

iHeartMedia currently has two translators from the AM Revitalization Waiver Period seeking identical facilities on 106.9 in Cleveland OH. On August 1, iHeart applied to move what was originally 94.7 W234BW Parkersburg WV to Cleveland rebroadcasting News/Talk 1100 WTAM with 195w vertical/213m. Over the course of the two waiver periods, iHeart had seven translators that it applied to move to different destinations in each. W293CW was one of those where it was granted a Construction Permit to relocate to Marion OH as 106.5 W293CW rebroadcasting 1490 WMRN. On top of that the translator was given a six month extension of its CP to extend the time it had to be built from expiring on March 15 to September 15.

FCC Update 8/16: KFWR Fighting Back

Station Moves A week after the FCC issued a Show Cause Order to reclassify LKCM Radio’s “95.9 The Ranch” KFWR Jacksboro, TX as operating with a directional array, the station applies to have it switched back to non-directional with the installation of a stock antenna at the currently licensed power and height (Coverage Map). E-String Wireless Urban “Z93.9” KAGZ Burke/Lufkin, TX seeks to relocate to 97.7 with no changes to its 1.8kW at 184 meters licensed facilities (Coverage Map). Woman’s World Broadcasting’s “South 107” 107.1 WTSH-FM Rockmart/Rome, Ga has completed one upgrade and applied for another. The station has jumped from 45kW to 100kW. The application will keep the station at 100kW but increase the antenna height from 158 to 287 meters. If approved the station’s service contour will just miss downtown Atlanta. In Atlanta, Clear Channel’s 94.9 WUBL and 96.1 WKLS are looking to make a minor adjustment. Their application to move to a new tower 150 meters away from their current one. 94.9 will adjust from 99kW to 73.6kW while increasing from 298 to 330 meters. 96.1’s shift is from 99kW at 300 meters to 97kW at 330 meters.
