Cumulus Media has flipped Classic Hip-Hop “94.9 The Vibe” KENZ Provo/Salt Lake City to CHR “Power 94.9” at 4pm today. Positioned as “Utah’s New Hit Music”, the new format takes direct aim at iHeartMedia’s “97.1 ZHT” KZHT and Broadway Media’s “Mix 105.1” KUDD as well as Rhythmic CHR “U92” 92.5 KUUU. Rick Vaughn, PD of sister Classic Rock “K-BER 101” KBER and Alternative “Alt 101.9” KHTB adds those duties for KENZ. After simulcasting on both frequencies for the Labor Day weekend, Cumulus has completed the move of Alternative “Alt 94.9” to 101.9 KENZ Ogden and debuted Classic Hip-Hop “94.9 The Vibe” on KHTB Provo. KHTB is running the Westwood One syndicated programming out of the gate including morning host Tony Zazza, middayer Miss Eklass and afternoon/evening host Zakk. Cumulus Restructures Salt Lake Programming Staff

Cumulus Media has hired Rick Vaughn as Program Director at Alternative “Alt 94.9” KHTB and Rock “K-Bear 101” KBER Salt Lake City. Vaughn, who previously programmed such stations as “103.5 Kiss-FM” WKSC Chicago, “Q102” WIOQ Philadelphia, and “Power 96.1” WWPQ and “Radio 105.7” WRDA Atlanta most recently was operating talent coaching consultancy AIM, READY, FIRE LLC. The addition of Vaughn leads to the exit of Sue Kelly as PD of KBER and KHTB. After a couple hours of stunting telling listeners to listen at 12pm “for your new favorite radio station”, KENZ relaunched as “Classic Hits 101.9“.
