Riviera Broadcasting has promoted Mikey Fuentes to Vice President of Programming. Fuentes has programmed Rhythmic CHR “Power 98.3/101.9” KKFR Mayer/K270BZ Phoenix and Soft AC “95.1/94.9 The Oasis” KOAI Sun City West/K235CB Chandler since 2011. With the promotion he will add day-to-day programming of Hot AC “Hot 97.5/103.9” KMVA Dewey-Humboldt/103.9 KZON Gilbert. Riviera Broadcasting Soft AC “95.1 The Oasis” KOAI Sun City West/Phoenix has added an additional signal as 94.9 K235CB Chandler signs-on to bring the programming to the eastern side of the market. Rebroadcasting 103.9 KEXX-HD2, the directional 250 watt signal of K235CB allows the recently launched Soft AC to reach Mesa, Scottsdale, Tempe, and other towns east of Phoenix (Coverage Map). Launched in August 2014, KOAI registered a 1.4 share in the February 2015 Nielsen Audio PPM ratings.
Update 8/13 3:02pm: After ten minutes of stunting with a few Alternative songs, KVIB flipped to Soft AC “95.1 The Oasis” at 12pm today. The new format takes dead aim at Clear Channel AC “99.9 KEZ” KESZ and CBS Classic Hits 94.5 KOOL. Those points were hammered in by the station’s choice of Little River Band’s “Cool Change” and Eagles “Take It Easy” as the first two songs. The Phoenix market has been a hotbed for format change activity in 2014. In just a little over three weeks we now have our fourth format change of the year. Riveria Broadcast Group makes its second change of the year as it has shifted Spanish CHR “95.1 Tu Musica” KVIB to Spanish AC “Solamente Exitos“. The move broadens KVIB’s playlist to include songs from the 1980s through today and positions the station against Spanish Adult Hits “Jose 106.9/107.1” KDVA/KVVA.
