Mega 95.5 Chicago Flips To Regional Mexican

Update 6/19: WNUA dropped its Spanish AC “Mega 95.5” format at noon today for Regional Mexican “95.5 El Patron“. As a few people have reminded us, Clear Channel had actually registered ElPatron955.com back in February 2010 for a planned flip then that never took place. The move places WNUA in direct competition with Univision’s “La Que Buena 105.1” WOJO and SBS’ “La Ley 107.9” WLEY in the Regional Mexican format. WOJO was 8th in the market last month with a 4.2 share. WLEY 20th with a 2.2. Original Report 6/18: A pair of domain registrations indicate something is afoot at Clear Channel’s Spanish AC “Mega 95.5” WNUA Chicago. Anonymous domain registrations were made on Friday for 955ElPatron.com and 955NowChicago.c...[Read More]

WNUA Chicago Becomes Mega 95.5

Update 5/22/09: WNUA became Spanish Hot AC “Mega 95.5” at 9:55 following a montage looking back at its days as WDHF, WMET, WRXR, and WNUA. Original Entry 5/20/09: Over the past week. the rumor mill has exploded over the future of Smooth Jazz 95.5 WNUA Chicago. We had tweeted on May 4 about Clear Channel flipping one of its Smooth Jazz outlets to Spanish but never followed up on it. We were referring to Mega955.com being registered by Clear Channel in late April. Since then a lot of discussion has revolved around a 955catcountry.com that features a countdown clock to 12pm on June 1. We’re pretty sure that the Cat County site is either a rouse or has nothing to do with Chicago. If there’s a flip at WNUA, we’re pretty sure it’ll be Mega 95.5. Will it be Spa...[Read More]
