KRQX Rebrands As Kool 98.9

Redrock Broadcasting has rebranding Classic Hits “K98.9” KRQX Hurricane/St. George UT as “Kool 98.9“. No further changes accompanied the rebranding. KRQX had been branded as “K98.9” since flipping from Alternative to Classic Hits in October 2014.

Cumulus intends to file an application to relocate the translator closer to Lexington where it will rebroadcast News/Talk 590 WVLK Lexington. CBL Investments is selling Classic Hits 98.9 KRQX-FM Hurricane/St. George, UT to Craig Hanson’s Redrock Broadcasting for $250,000. Hanson, the former President of Simmons Media currently operates KRQX via LMA and owns Hot AC “Mix 103.1” KURR Hildale in the St. George market. KRQX-FM St. George Drops Alternative

Citing inability to sell advertising, Craig Hanson’s Media Advisors LLC. has flipped Alternative “X98.9” KRQX-FM Hurricane/St. George, UT to Classic Hits. The station is now presenting itself by its frequency and call letters “98.9 KRQX” branded as “Southern Utah’s Greatest Hits”. Canyon Media’s 101.5 KCLS had been using that branding until it shifted to Soft AC “Easy 101.5” last month. Hanson, the former President of Simmons Media, took over operations of KRQX, in which he holds a minority ownership stake via LMA when he purchased sister Adult CHR “Mix 103.1” KURR Hildale from Simmons earlier this year.
