Afternoon host Felisha Monet is departing Cox Media Group Urban “99 Jamz” WEDR Miami after a decade at the station. The Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel reports that Monet is exiting to focus on her nonprofit “I Am Greater Than Yesterday”, telling the paper “I am excited to start this new chapter in my life and career. Having a long career with 99 Jamz was a dream and a goal – and I’m happy that I can place a check mark next to that. I’m excited about what’s happening next – and eager to enter into the next chapter.” Monet joined WEDR in 2008 and moved her way up from overnights to nights replacing DJ Khaled and then afternoons.
Cox Media Group has made a pair of promotions at its Miami cluster. Jill Strada rises from Director of Branding and Programming at CHR “Hits 97.3” WFLC and Urban “99 Jams” 99.1 WEDR to Director of Operations adding oversight of all programming marketing, promotions, and digital content at those two stations plus Soft AC “Easy 93.1” WFEZ and Urban AC “Hot 105” 105.1 WHQT.
