A network affiliation change will lead to a rebranding for Vox AM/FM Sports “ESPN 101.3” WCPV Essex NY/Burlington VT. WCPV will rebrand on Tuesday, September 4 as “101.3 The Game” as it drops ESPN Radio programming for Fox Sports Radio. WCPV will air the majority of the Fox Sports Radio lineup including Clay Travis, Dan Patrick, and Colin Cowherd. The local “The Huddle with Rich, Arnie and Brady” will expand to 3-6pm followed by Champaign Valley Game Night from 6-7pm. Patrick and Cowherd had been airing on sister “960 The Zone” WEAV, which will now move to 24/7 programming from the CBS Sports Radio network.

However in the process of the move, Pillar of Fire failed to deal with the issue that it needed to bring the translator back on the air by November 30, 2016 to keep the translator's license alive. Pillar of Fire eventually filed a Petition of Waiver in March requesting the FCC overlook the passing of the one year silent period by claiming they "misunderstood the statutory limitation on the length of time a station may remain silent, and intended to use the translator to improve its service through the FCC’s AM Revitalization initiative". In the Spring 2017 Nielsen Audio ratings WXZO held a 0.8 share to WXXX’s 4.5. The syndicated Elvis Duran show is replaced by the newly syndicated show hosted by KLUC Las Vegas afternoon host John Moug and KMXB Las Vegas middayer Heather Collins. Stevie Beats remains in place as Program Director/Afternoon host and Charlotte XO stays in middays. The station retains the syndicated Nessa On Air in nights.
After a brief simulcast of Country “97.9 The Moose” WZXP Au Sable, A&J Radio has launched 50s/60s Oldies “Mid-Century Radio” on 1070 WPLB (formerly WTWK) and 103.7 W242BS Plattsburgh NY. The format moves from Northeast Broadcasting’s “Channel 98” 1390 WCAT/98.3 W252CJ Burlington and 1420 WRSA St. Albans VT which are now Silent. A&J Radio, headed by Aaron & Jessica Ishmael, purchased WTWK and W242BS from Northeast Broadcasting in July 2016 for $140,000. The company also leases 97.9 WZXP from Randy Michaels’ Radioactive LLC.
Concurrent with Apex Media's purchase of Hot AC "i93.7" WALI Walterboro SC from Premiere Enterprises for $325,000, the station has filed to move to Burton SC while upgrading to a Class C3. The move will shift WALI into the Beaufort/Hilton Head Island market where it will operate with 11kW/150m. To keep first local service in Walterboro, Grace Baptist Church of Orangeburg has applied to change the city-of-license of 810 WWOS St. George to Walterboro.

Starboard will acquire Classic Country “Twang 106.7” 1410 WMYR Fort Myers and 106.7 W294AN Fort Myers Beach from Mark Follett’s Gulf Breeze Radio License LLC for $546,733.82. The Catholic operator will also purchase AC “98FM Marco Island” 1480 WVOI and Spanish CHR “Ardiente Radio” 1660 WCNZ Marco Island from Almodovar Media Corporation for the assumption of the $356,266.18 owed on the promissory note by Almodovar to previous owner J&B WCNZ/WVOI LLC. After nearly a year of silence, Randy Michaels’ RadioActive LLC’s 97.9 WZXP Au Sable NY/Burlington VT has returned to the air. WZXP is now operating as Classic Country “97.9 The Moose“. The station is now being operated by John Nichols, one of the co-founders of CHR 95.5 WXXX in the 1980s and WFFF-TV in the 1990s along with Aaron Ishmael, who is a partner in stations across the country. Prior to going dark in July 2015 WZXP operated as AAA “The Album Station“, which still exists as a webcaster.
