Former 98.5 KYGO Denver Program Director Eddie Haskell is moving up I-25 to serve as SVP/Programming for iHeartMedia in the adjacent Fort Collins market. Haskell served as PD of KYGO from January 2013 through August 2016 during the time upon which former KYGO morning host David Mueller was found to have groped Taylor Swift. Haskell stated on the witness stand that Mueller’s unfounded claim that he too had touched Swift that night had cost him some jobs following his exit from KYGO. Haskell previously spent nine years as OM of Citadel’s Albuquerque cluster where he programmed Country 92.3 KRST as well as programmed WYCD Detroit, KKAT-FM Salt Lake City, WXLK Roanoke, and KDJM Denver. Since leaving KYGO he has been focusing on his podcasts about Tesla cars and country artist inter...[Read More]

A shuffle that started out with two stations in Cheyenne WY will now have its ramifications felt as far south as Pueblo CO. As we previously reported iHeartMedia Active Rock 106.7 KBPI has begun its move to 107.9. The station will be heard on not only 107.9 K300CP Denver and the soon-to-be former KPAW Fort Collins, but also replaced the similar Active Rock format of “Z107.9” KDZA-FM Pueblo/Colorado Springs. The move creates a KBPI trimulcast stretching nearly along the entire Interstate 25 corridor in the state of Colorado and into the Cheyenne WY market as well. The station will simulcast on 106.7 through the end of the year before a new format is launched. No changes to the KBPI lineup accompany the frequency change. iHeartMedia’s Denver Region today announced new programming...[Read More]
Following its acquisition of Hot AC “92.9 The Boss” KOLT-FM Warren AFB/Cheyenne WY, iHeartMedia has flipped the station to AC “Star 92.9“. Now sporting new KYWY call letters, “Star 92.9” is running commercial-free for the foreseeable future. Its former KOLT-FM call letters move to new sister station “100.7 KOLT-FM” in Cheyenne, which previously was KOLZ. iHeart purchased then KOLT-FM in January from Valley Bank And Trust for $500,000.
Amazingly there were some moves this week that did not involve the 250 mile AM translator waiver. The agency acted quickly on many filings from right before the waiver period started so we should see quick action on the multitude of filings made when it started on January 29.
Station Sales iHeartMedia has not been an outright buyer of a station in quite some time. That changed this weeks as the company purchased Hot AC “92.9 The Boss” KOLT-FM Warren AFB/Cheyenne WY from Valley Bank And Trust for $500,000. The bank has owned KOLT-FM since former owner Joli Lofstedt’s Tracy Broadcasting Company defaulted on a loan in 2014. KOLT-FM will become iHeart’s third FM in the Cheyenne market joining “Big Country 97.9” KXBG Cheyenne and Country “100.7 KOLT-FM” KOLZ. The Moody Bible Institute is purchasing Classic Country 1200 WAMB Nashville TN and its two translators from Great Southern Broadcasting Company for $414,000.
