The “Detroit Praise Network” consists of three translators acquired by Urban One in the sale of WPZR to Educational Media Foundation: 93.5 W228CJ Detroit, 93.5 W228CU Riverview, 98.3 W252BX Detroit and the previously owned 99.9 W260CB Detroit. The four signals combine to cover most of Detroit and its surrounding suburbs. Programming will originate from 105.9 WDMK-HD2. Roxanne Steele has exited as midday host at Entercom Country 99.5 WYCD Detroit after two and a half years. Steele joined WYCD in November 2015 after previously filling the same daypart at sister CHR “98.7 AMP Radio” WDZH. She is best known for her 12 year run at “B96” WBBM-FM Chicago and has also worked in Palm Springs and Phoenix at the start of her career. Jeff ‘Rat Boy’ Daly and Josh ‘Stay Puff’ Foreman have exited mornings at Entercom CHR “98.7 Amp Radio” WDZH Detroit after three and a half years with the station. The pair, who have been friends since middle school, joined WDZH in November 2015 after previously hosting afternoons at iHeartMedia CHR “Q102” WIOQ Philadelphia, nights at 93.3 WFLZ Tampa, and hosting the syndicated mixshow “The Show” with DJ Goofy White Kid. No word yet on what WDZH has planned for mornings.
The sale of WPZR from Urban One to Educational Media Foundation was filed with the FCC giving more details on the sale. Joyner, who aired on WDMK from 2005-2014, will return to the morning slot after being relegated to former sister 1200 WCHB and later 99.9 W260CB Hamtramck/WDMK-HD2. The return of Joyner to mornings at WDMK will see John Mason move to the 12-3pm slot and current 10am-3pm host Fantasee Blue move to 10am-12pm. Entercom Classic Hits 104.3 WOMC Detroit has revealed that former WXYZ-TV news anchor Stephen Clark will join the station on Monday, April 2 to lead its new morning show. Clark retired at the end of February after 40 years in television including the last 16 years at WXYZ as their 6 and 11pm weekday anchor.
