Curtis Media Hot AC “V103.3” WMGV Newport/New Bern NC has announced the launch of Max & Amy in mornings. Max Miller joins the station from Sunrise Broadcasting in Wilmington NC where he hosted mornings at “Modern Rock 98.7” WRMR Jacksonville. He also previously hosted nights at CHR “Z107.5” WAZO Southport. Amy Kay returns to mornings from middays. Kay previously co-hosted with Marc Miller until he moved to then sister Classic Hits 107.9 WNCT-FM Greenville in January 2016 and she slid to middays at WMGV when the station added the syndicated Kidd Kraddick Morning Show, which was dropped at the end of 2017.
Curtis Media Group flipped Modern Rock “99X” 99.5 WXNR Grifton/New Bern/Kinston and 97.5 W248BS Jacksonville NC to CHR “Hot 99.5” at 3pm today. The move places WXNR in direct competition with Dick Broadcasting’s “Bob 93.3” WERO. WXNR ranked ninth in the Greenville/New Bern/Jacksonville market with a 3.0 share in the Summer 2017 Nielsen Audio ratings. New head on competitor WERO was third in the market with an 8.1 share.
Beasley Media has announced it is selling their Greenville-New Bern-Jacksonville NC stations to Curtis Media Group for $11 million. Curtis subidiary CMG Coastal Carolina will acquire Rock “99X” 99.5 WXNR Grifton, Urban AC “101.9 Kiss-FM” WIKS New Bern, Hot AC “V103.3” WMGV Newport, Classic Rock 106.5 WSFL New Bern, and Beach/Oldies 1070 WNCT Greenville. Classic Hits 107.9 WNCT-FM Greenville will be spun-off to Inner Banks Media for an undisclosed amount. Beasley intends to use the proceeds from the sale to reduce debt created from its acquisition of Greater Media. Inner Banks, which will acquire WNCT-FM owns four FMs in the market.
