In January of this year, the Spanish Adult Hits trimulcast of “Jose” 97.5 KLYY Riverside/103.1 KDLD Santa Monica/103.1 KDLE Newport Beach had flipped to Regional Mexican “La Tricolor“. In May, KLYY reversed course and returned to its previous format and name as “Jose 97.5“. HeartMedia has promoted Rob Scorpio to Senior Vice President of Programming for the San Diego/Riverside region. Scorpio had been serving as VP/Programming for the company’s six stations in Riverside as well as Program Director of Rhythmic CHR’s “Jam’n 95.7” KSSX Carlsbad/San Diego and 99.1 KGGI Riverside. He will now add oversight of the company’s San Diego stations, but step down as Program Director of KGGI. Clear Channel has dropped the Classic Country “Toad” from 1350 KTDD San Bernardino, CA after an 11 year run. The station flipped on Monday to Sports as “Fox Sports Radio 1350” using the Premiere Radio Network’s national feed around the clock. KTDD operates with 5kW daytime and 600 watts at night. The station debuted its previous Classic Country “Toad” identity in 2002.
After a five year battle, Lazer Broadcasting has gained zoning approval to construct a new tower in Yucaipa CA in order to proceed with its move-in of 105.7 KXRS Hemet into the Riverside/San Bernardino market. The long-standing CP will allow the station to rimshot Riverside and San Bernardino from the east with 6kW from 85 meters above average terrain off of the to-be-constructed 43 foot tower. The move will also see the station shift to 105.5. Lazer Broadcasting predominantly runs Regional Mexican formats with the name “Radio Lazer” on its stations.
CBS has teamed with Cumulus to launch “CBS Sports Radio” on January 2, 2013. Fourteen CBS Sports formatted stations will contribute programming and content to the 24/7 network. The programming will include live talk shows around the clock with listener calls and interaction. CBS states it will have a prominent roles on the network for personalities from CBS Sports, CBS Sports Network, and CBSSports.com. Affiliates will be given the opportunity to regionalize their lineup by selecting programs from other CBS or Cumulus Sports formatted stations. Cumulus Media Networks will be the exclusive syndicator and sales partner of the network.
