A new Urban station appears to be on its way to Rochester NY after the $650,000 purchase of 105.5 W288CS Fairport by Bluelight Communications. Bluelight is a partnership of Lester Pace and Manny Bella. Pace spent 17 years as National Director of Promotions for Interscope Records and also worked on-air in the 1990s at Radio-One Urban 97.9 KBXX Houston. Bella owns record promtions company Citiboy Entertainment and has also served as Senior VP of Urban Music at Atlantic Records and General Manager of Motown Records. W288CS holds a CP to move to downtown Rochester with 250w/153m from the top of the Xerox Building where it will rebroadcast an HD subchannel of Entercom’s 98.9 WBZA. Station Sales Radio Disney continued the sell-off of its stations with 1560 WQEW New York going to Family Radio and The Word Network purchasing 910 WFDF Farmington Hills/Detroit. In other previously reported deals this week, Simmons Media purchased Spanish Peaks Broadcasting’s cluster in Missoula, MT and Idaho Wireless purchased Pacific Empire Broadcasting’s 102.5 KMGI and 930 KSEI Pocatello, ID. Morgantown, WV and Southwestern Pennsylvania will be gaining a new commercial FM as Robert and Ashley Stevens’ Broadcast Communications purchases 106.9 WRIJ Masontown, PA from He’s Alive, Inc or $350,000. Clear Channel Launches Radio 95.1 & 107.3 The Bull Rochester

Clear Channel is shaking up its Rochester, NY cluster. Classic Rock “95.1 The Brew” WQBW Honeoye Falls has rebranded as “Radio 95.1” as the station adds former “98.9 The Buzz” WBZA morning hosts Kimberly & Beck for afternoons. The duo was fired by Entercom in May following hateful comments directed towards the transgender community. The duo will air from 2-7pm on WQBW, while Brother Weeze remains in mornings.
