Original Report 10/4: Hot AC 107.1 WERZ flipped to CHR at 3:00pm and returned to its heritage “Z107” branding. The move brings the programming heard on sister “Kiss 95.3” WSKX over to the stronger WERZ signal including Elvis Duran in mornings and Ryan Seacrest in middays. The station will run commercial free until next Tuesday.
With the move of CHR to 107.1, WSKX has begun stunting with sounds of ocean waves and lighthouse bells while teasing a new format will launch Tuesday, October 9 at 12:00pm. We’re expecting an AC format to appear on 95.3 as Clear Channel has registered 953TheCoast.com for the station.
They’re going to do five days of stunting? That’s all…old school and stuff.
I wonder if this is in response to 104.7 flipping to CHR.
Nice logo. Looks like Z100
It hasn’t been “Z107” since the mid/late 1980’s. When Pete Falconi came in as PD during the beginning of the CHR doldrums, he basically created one of the first “adult CHRs” and changed to slogan to 107.1 WERZ More Music-More Variety to emphasize the focus on adults.
Lots of great feelings working for that station and Precision Media.
I did weekends and utility at WERZ in l984-85. the Z-107 CHR/Dance format under PD Jack O’Brien was a strong #2 in the Portsmouth-Dover ARB and beat l00.3 WHEB which had a stronger signal but had flipped to AOR in l983. only WOKQ Country 97.5 was ahead of us at #1 (and probably still is today). Z-107 went to a more or less Hot A/C/Classic Rock format in ’86 based partly on flawed “home-brew” research.
Seems that 95.3 The Coast would be too close to Saga’s Coast 93.1 in Portland. 95.3 can be heard there…
Supposedly a facebook post said they’d be back playing “everything”; variety hits? Sim. to the Harbor?
The site is active “95.3 The Coast We Play Everything”

95.3 sounds more like Adult Hits than AC.
