Update 2/28: WLXN made the flip to Oldies today as “Kool 1440 & 99.9“.
Original Report 2/13: Davidson County Broadcasting is preparing to return the Oldies format to the Greensboro/Winston-Salem market via 1440 WLXN Lexington, NC and translator 99.9 W260BG.
WLXN currently programs a News/Talk format. Registrations for Kool1440.com and Kool999.com were made by the same company that manages WLXN.com.
W260BG is owned by EMF Broadcasting and currently broadcasts with a mere 14 watts at 312 feet but has a construction permit to upgrade to the maximum 250 watts at 840 feet where it should cover the southern portions of the market. EMF’s need for 99.9 became moot when it began leasing then Oldies “Majic 94.1” WTHZ from Davidson County Broadcasting last March. That station, under the WWLV calls carries EMF’s “K-Love” format.
