Univision Flips In Dallas And Las Vegas

Earlier this week Univision flipped three of its stations to new formats, dropping its “Recuerdo” Mexican Oldies format from a pair of markets. In Dallas/Fort Worth, 99.1 KFZO Denton and 107.1 KDXX Benbrook, which both cover the Western half of the Metroplex segue to “La Jefa“, a younger skweing Region Mexican format. Meanwhile in Las Vegas, 99.3 KRGT returns to Spanish CHR “La Kalle“, a format it had prior to “Recuerdo”.

Getting Wild In Atlantic City

CD101 Columbus Changing Frequencies?

Update 6/30/10: “CD101” will begin simulcasting on 102.5 tonight at midnight as it begins its move to its new permanent home. WOSU Public Media, the broadcasting arm of The Ohio State University, has acquired the 101.1 signal from Fun With Radio, LLC for $4.8 Million. Following the closing of the sale in September or October, 101.1 will flip to non-commercial Classical while 89.7 WOSU-FM will flip to all NPR News/Talk in a simulcast with 820 WOSU. 102.5 will gain the WWCD calls and all of CD101’s intellectual property, including its status as flagship for Columbus Blue Jackets hockey. Univision Spanish CHR “La Kalle 98.3” WRTO-FM Miami will become “Mix 98.3” WURM tomorrow at 6am. Mix983.com was registered anonymously in May and is already pointing to “La Kalle’s” website. The WURM calls were applied for by Univision on June 15. Facebook and Twitter accounts for the new station are already active. WRTO has been running commercial-free and jockless for the past few weeks in preparation of tomorrow’s flip.

A Virgin Coming To Calgary

Pair Of Urban Flips Coming In Illinois

Rockford and Champaign, IL will both be gaining new Urban stations in the near future. In Rockford, Crawford Broadcasting will flip “Soul 106.3” WYRB from a simulcast of sister WSRB Chicago to a locally originated Urban format as “Power 106.3” at noon on Wednesday. WYRB will continue to air Tom Joyner in the mornings. Down in Champaign-Urbana, SJ Broadcasting will soon be flipping Classic Alternative “93.5 The Source” WEBX. SJ Broadcasting recently announced the purchase of WEBX and its sister stations from RadioStar, Inc. SJ has registered 935Beat.com.
