The legal battle between Envision Broadcast Network and Rocking M Media will be settled following the sale of 92.3 KKGQ Newton/Wichita KS to Chad Boeger’s Pinnacle Media.
Boeger, who heads Union Broadcasting and its Sports stations in Kansas City and Louisville, will pay Rocking M $623,000 for KKGQ. As part of the deal Union Broadcasting and Envision will conduct a one day camp for blind and visually impaired youths that includes access and engagement to produce and air radio broadcast shows, Envision will be a “founding partner” of the station for three years, Envision will have a bi-weekly hourlong show “espousing the Envision mission and all that Envision does.”, and review and consider resumes of blind and visually impaired applicants from the Envision Group when applicable. Union Broadcasting will enter into an Advertising Agreement with Pinnacle to manage the station.
At closing the civil lawsuit between Envision and Rocking M Media will be jointly dismissed. The legal battles between the groups dates to the merger of KKGQ into Rocking M’s Wichita cluster in April 2017. Rocking M agreed to sell its entire cluster in 2019 to Allied Media Partners, however liens placed on the stations by Envision were unable to be cleared and Envision locked Rocking M Media out of their studios located at Envision’s headquarters leading to the sale collapsing. KKGQ most recently had been operating as Country “The Brand” using 24/7 programming from SuiteRadio.
Rocking M continues to own its five other stations in the Wichita market, which have been on and off the air regularly since the sale to Allied collapsed. Those stations are the former Rhythmic Hot AC “92.7 The Blast” KWME Wellington, Variety Hits “97.1 Bob-FM” KIBB Haven, AAA “Flight 100.5” KVWF Augusta, AC “100.3 The Wave” 1130 KLEY/100.3 K262CQ Wellington, and Talk 1550 KKLE Winfield. Only KIBB has kept its prior format operating.
