Beasley Media’s “Interference Complaint” against 100.1 WVVF-LP Town N’ Country/Tampa FL filed in July 2015 for operating as a de-facto commercial station by running a Spanish Classic Hits format and not the “educational” programming it claimed in its application was dismissed by the FCC.
The FCC struck down Beasley’s argument that WVVF-LP “through a predominantly music format, has failed to advance an educational program” as “The Commission has previously accepted all-music formats as advancing an educational program”. “Viva 100.1” did not get off the hook completely as it entered into a Consent Decree and $2000 fine for violating the Underwriting Announcement Rule on at least one occasion.
