Berkshire Broadcasting has flipped Classic Hits “B94.5” 850 WAXB Ridgefield/94.5 W233CF Danbury CT to Classic Rock “94.5 The Hawk” at 3pm today.
The move places WAXB into direct competition with Townsquare Media’s “I95” 95.1 WRKI. Promoting as “Classic Rock That Really Rocks”, CEO Irv Goldstein stated “B94.5 has been continuously evolving over the years morphing from a traditional oldies station to an 80’s based classic hits/classic rock mix. We just felt that now was the right time to get off the fence and go all in.”.
On Wednesday (2/26) at 3pm, B94.5FM (W233CF/850AM) in Danbury, Connecticut went 100% pure classic rock, rebranding as “945 The Hawk.”
“B945 has been continuously evolving over the years,” commented Berkshire Broadcasting CEO Irv Goldstein, “morphing from a traditional oldies station to an 80’s based classic hits/classic rock mix. We just felt that now was the right time to get off the fence and go all in. ‘945 The Hawk’ is a classic rock that really rocks.”
In addition to the over the air signals, “945 The Hawk” is streaming at thehawkct.com. “945 The Hawk” will also serve to compliment co-owned “1037rock” (WDAQ HD-2), Berkshire’s alternative station.
“Coupled with our alternative rocker, the 94.5 format adjustment positions Berkshire Broadcasting to even better serve clients targeting male demos across the spectrum,” said Goldstein.
