Clear Channel News/Talk 600 KOGO San Diego is the latest station to join the FM simulcast club.
As first reported earlier today by SDRadio.net, KOGO’s programming will first displace “New Country 95.7” KUSS on Monday, November 7. The stations will be branded as “FM News and Talk 95.7 and AM 600 KOGO”.
Joining KOGO’s lineup will be former KVI Seattle morning host Bryan Suits for 12pm to 3pm and Bob “Sully” Sullivan from 6 to 8pm. LaDona Harvey will move from middays to afternoon drive. The stations will break from the simulcast in afternoon drive through the end of the year as Roger Hedgecock finishes out his contract on the AM. Hedgecock will reportedly join Midwest TV’s 760 KFMB in the same timeslot. LaDona Harvey will slide from middays into afternoons.
KOGO ranked 10th in the market in the most recent monthlies albeit down from a 4.8 to a 3.9. KUSS’s Country format registered a 2.8.
I live in Seattle and was in San Diego last week on business. I was very happy to find Bryan Suits has a spot on KOGO after Rush. Bryan is quick with his acerbic wit and humor. When he speaks of his military experience you do not get sugar coated stories about how the military operates or what it is like to be in a combat zone. He can speak knowledgably on a variety of topics and always manages to keep them interesting and funny. If you are not familiar with Bryan’s style I think you will find him very entertaining. Bryan had a lot of fans in Seattle and we were sorry to see him go. I will be tuning in to the KOGO website every day at noon to hear Bryan’s show.
