ESPN Radio has gained an outlet in the Hudson Valley of New York, while losing its fairly recent addition in Green Bay, WI.
Sunrise Broadcasting has flipped 1220 WGNY Newburgh from Oldies to Sports as “Fox 1220 ESPN“. The new format will also be heard on 97.3 W247AW Poughkeepsie, which drops its simulcast of sister AC “Fox 103.1” WJGK Newburgh.
WGNY/W247AW will run the national ESPN Radio feed 24/7 for the time being though they do have plans to add local programming. ESPN previously served the Hudson Valley on 1050 WEPN New York prior to that station moving its programming to 98.7 last April.
WGNY’s previous “Fox Oldies” (notice a theme?) remains on 98.9 WGNY-FM Rosendale and 94.1 W235BI Middletown.
Meanwhile in Green Bay, Mark Heller’s “1590 ESPN” WGBW Denmark goes in a quick reverse. Northpine.com reports that the station has dropped ESPN after just 90 days in the format and returned to its previous Oldies format running Scott Shannon’s True Oldies Channel.
