CSN International has sold the CP for 103.9 W280EM Chicago to Windy City Broadcasting, LLC for $1 Million.
Windy City Broadcasting, led by John Bridge of Sugar Grove, IL holds no other broadcast properties. Bridge is the head of the Chicago based Equity One Investment Fund.
W280EM is licensed to operate with 8 watts at 450.2 meters from the top of the Willis Tower in downtown Chicago (Coverage Map). The sale agreement specified 91.5 WBEZ as the originating station for the translator at least for now.
How happy will Digity and Matrix media be with this, given that their WFXF Crystal Lake (103.9 the Fox) will almost certainly suffer some interference from a Chicago-based translator at that height? Another example of trying to make the FM band look like the AM graveyard.
I truly hope that they file a complaint.
Not only WFXF. There’s also a 103.9 the same distance to the SE in Crown Point, IN. On the other hand, if they do interfere and receive a complaint, they might be able to file for displacement and move to a better frequency.
