The Boston market is abuzz today over the registration of Talk1017.com redirecting to Clear Channel’s “Talk 1200” WXKS.
Only one problem. There is nothing to connect the domain to Clear Channel. The domain was registered anonymously using GoDaddy’s Domains By Proxy and is hosted on Godaddy’s server using a frame based redirect to display content from WXKS.
That said it is possible that eventually the domain could be moved to Clear Channel’s servers, but for those outlets that have in-house reasons to gripe about Clear Channel’s purchase of their sister station and love nothing more than to give them negative publicity there is as much to connect the company to Talk1017.com as there is to Radio1017.com. Unfortunately, the latter domain was registered anonymously in late June, but happens to be hosted on a server connected to a pirate radio operator in New Hampshire.
WFNX could become “Talk 101.7” when Clear Channel begins operating the station, but there is nothing concrete today of off which to make that statement.
I think they still have no clue what they want to do with it yet.
Clear Channel knows what its going to do with 101.7. But why let the rest of the stations know and have time to prepare?
