Following the addition of two new signals in Columbus, Radio-One has begun to indicate what it will do with 106.3 WXMG London after it completes the move of Urban AC “Magic” to 95.5 WZOH-FM Lancaster. Boom1063.com was registered along with Joy1071.com last week and social media profiles for “Boom Columbus” are now active.
After launching four “Boom” branded Classic Hip-Hop stations in the Fall of 2014, Radio-One moved away from the format as none of the launches retained their early growth. CEO Alfred Liggins stated he saw the format as a flanker for their current based Urbans, which could help in Columbus where “Power 107.5” WCKX has fallen behind iHeartMedia’s “106.7 The Beat” WZCB.
Salem Communications has registered a few domains and new call letters for its pending acquisition of 1690 KDDZ Arvada/Denver CO from Radio Disney. Salem has reserved KDMT call letters for the station and has registered 1690KDMT.com, BusinessRadioDenver.com, and MoneyTalk1690.com. The domains indicate the station will become an affiliate of Salem’s “Wall Street Business Network” when the deal that makes it Salem’s fourth station in the Denver market closes.
Is Cumulus planning to revert Country “102.1 Nash Icon” WZAT Savannah to its heritage “Z102” branding? At least someone at iHeartMedia thinks so as Senior VP/Programming Travis Dylan registered Z102Radio.com and Z102Savannah.com on Friday. “Z102” was the heritage CHR in the Savannah market for much of the 80s and 90s outside of a brief foray to Alternative Rock in the early 90s. Since dropping the moniker in 2008, the station has flipped from Hot AC to Sports to Country. If Cumulus did return the station to CHR it would join iHeart’s “97.3 Kiss-FM” WAEV and Alpha Media’s “Y100” WXYY in the format.
Anonymous registrations were made for 1045TheEdge.com and TheEdge1045.com. No indications where they could be used yet.
